• Tape 01: You Can Be Loved and Misunderstood.

Some of the people who love you most may never fully understand you.

Someone can care about your safety, want you around, feel genuine affection for you, and still fail to understand your choices, your values, or your struggles.

It's not always because they're cruel or unwilling. Sometimes they only know the version of you they've come to recognize.

People often assume they understand you because they've known you for years. Because they know what happened to you. They have taken care of you. Or because they believe they know what's best for you.

But history doesn't equal intimacy. And familiarity isn't the same as recognition.

Knowing where someone came from does not always mean you understand who they are now.

Sometimes we expect people to understand parts of us we never clearly expressed.

Sometimes the people we accuse of misunderstanding us are responding to the version of ourselves we keep presenting.

The version that feels easier to explain.

    The version that avoids conflict.

The version that doesn't ask too much from the people around us.

Eventually, explaining yourself can become its own form of loneliness.

It can make you shrink your thoughts and dreams so they sound more acceptable.

You may start leaving certain parts of yourself out of the conversation. Not because they do not matter, but because you are tired of translating them.

And that's where it gets a little complicated.

Because the love may still be real.

But being cared for isn't always the same as being seen.

Sometimes being the black sheep doesn't mean you are unloved. It means the people around you love you through the limits of what they understand.

Being yourself doesn't have to mean separating from people who genuinely care about you.

You can be unapologetically yourself without treating every disagreement like rejection or using authenticity as a crutch to harm others.

You can leave the door open without making yourself too small to fit through it.
